4 last minute Christmas gifts you can make or buy from home

I’m 100% a gift person. I love watching someone open a gift I know they’re gonna enjoy. I love opening a fun surprise I didn’t even know I needed or wanted. But *confession time* I’m not always great about buying gifts that arrive on time (whoops).

If you’re anything like me, and still looking for a quick, but meaningful gift for someone this Christmas, here are four last-minute gifts you can probably make or buy with stuff you already have:

1. Chocolate covered cuties

Who’s this for: Parent, teacher, pastor or anyone who generally loves chocolate and is hard to buy for!
How to make it: We’ve got your blog post recipe here.
Price: ~$7
Time: 30 mins

2. Homemade tie-dye shirt

Who’s this for: Sibling, friend, cousin, etc.
How to make it: This blog gives a full breakdown, but basically you’re going to use a cotton t-shirt (or headband, socks, towel, scarf, etc.) and then make your own natural dye using kitchen items you hopefully already have around like curry powder, avocado pits, beets, blueberries, etc.
Price: $10-20 (depending on what materials you need to buy)
Time: 4-5 hours

3. Italian flavored salt

Who’s this for: Parent, neighbor, a grill-loving uncle, etc.
How to make it: Mix up various Italian herbs (I’d recommend a tablespoon each of dried garlic powder, onion powder, parsley, oregano and dill) with about 1/2 cup coarse kosher salt and pour into jars — you can either dig into your family’s pantry or buy something like this — and you’re done! Here’s a fancier version if you’re handy in the kitchen.
Price: ~$10
Time: 30 mins

4. Sponsored gift donation

Who’s this for: Grandma, grandpa or the person who doesn’t need anything
How to buy it: If the people around you are blessed and privileged enough to not need a thing, take a look at Compassion International’s gift catalog. The organization collects donations for the needs of children around the world. Instead of giving Grandma another thingamabobber she doesn’t need, you can buy all kinds of items for others on her behalf, like vegetable seeds, hygiene kits, a meal, or even a chicken!
Price: $7 and up
Time: 15 mins

Enjoy your time with family and friends best you can this Christmas — and be sure to keep safe by following all COVID regulations where you live!
